Background

Newport High School, the first school to be completed under the Council's secondary school redevelopment programme, opened its doors to pupils on the 9th November 2009. This landmark development offers advanced teaching facilities, including 34 general classrooms, eight science labs, eight ICT suites, a fully-equipped design technology wing, six SEN areas and a vocational training learning and resource centre and state-of-the-art leisure facilities,. There has been much focus on sustainable development and as a result the building has received a BREEAM Excellence rating; the first secondary school in Wales to achieve this accolade.
