Senior Network & Security Services Engineer
The Role

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Senior Network and Security Services Engineer to join our team. This role combines hands-on technical expertise with project planning and deployment responsibilities as well as architectural experience maintaining the Britannic Core network. You will work on designing, deploying, and managing customer networks, including MPLS overlays, SD-WAN solutions, and private circuits, while also contributing to the maintenance and development of Britannic’s core network infrastructure. You will be pivotal in supporting customer deployments, troubleshooting complex network issues, and driving the delivery of new projects from concept to execution.
Must Have:
- A minimum of seven years senior engineer level experience with Juniper MX/EX and SRX technologies.
- Significant experience with networks utilising BGP and other routing protocols
- Hold a current Cisco CCNP or higher
- Fortinet Certified Professional
- Car OWNER and within easy commutable distance to Guildford.

Key Responsibilities:
Design, Deploy, and Support Network Solutions:
- Plan, configure, and deploy network solutions using Cisco, Juniper SRX, and FortiGate technologies.
- Deliver SD-WAN and MPLS overlay solutions tailored to customer requirements.
- Install and manage CPE devices on DIA circuits, private Layer 2 circuits, and integrating into Britannic’s core network.
- Experience of Network Architecture.
- Retaining overall accountability and governance for the implementation of our core network, identifying and implementing actions that mitigate risk, and providing a technical escalation point.
Project Plan and Execution:
- Collaborate with internal teams and customers to gather requirements and design network solutions.
- Lead the deployment of new projects, including network migrations, upgrades, and expansions.
- Create and maintain detailed project documentation, including High-Level Designs (HLDs) and Low-Level Designs (LLDs).
- Network Operations and Maintenance:
- Monitor and maintain Britannic’s customer’s WAN network, ensuring high availability and performance.
- Proactively identify and resolve network issues, minimising customer downtime.
- Perform capacity planning and scalability assessments for customer and core networks.
Customer Support and Escalation:
- Act as an escalation point for complex network incidents and issues.
- Provide proactive technical support and consultation to customers, ensuring optimal network performance.
- Participate in 24/7 on-call support rotation as required.
Security and Compliance:
- Implement and manage security best practices across customer and core networks.
- Ensure network solutions align with Customer requirements, including data protection and cybersecurity standards.
- Working with Britannic’s team to help implement and maintain best practice in accordance with Britannic's ISMS (ISO27001) procedures and policies.
Key Skills and Experience:
- Proven experience in network architect design, deployment, and support in an MSP or enterprise environment.
- Strong knowledge of Cisco, Juniper SRX, and Fortinet technologies, including configuration and troubleshooting.
- Expertise in MPLS, SD-WAN, BGP, OSPF, VPNs, and Layer 2 networking.
- Experience with DIA circuits, private Layer 2 circuits, and core network integration.
- Ability to create comprehensive technical documentation, including HLDs and LLDs.
- Familiarity with network security best practices and tools, including firewalls and IPS/IDS.
- Hands-on experience with network monitoring tools and platforms.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex network issues.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Certifications such as CCNP, Fortinet NSE 4/5, or JNCIS are essential.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in network engineering roles.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Networking, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
